Rent Evictions Extended and American Rescue Plan
Pres. Joe Biden touts the new American Recovery Plan.
Roxboro Housing Authority (RHA) residents are eligible to receive additional rental assistance, stimulus money and child tax credits to name a few measures under the recent American Recovery Plan and law. The Centers for Decease Control and Prevention's (CDC) moratorium on evictions due to non-payment of rent has been extended to June 30, 2021.
RHA residents are required to pay rent if financially able to and to avoid eviction after the moratorium.
The moratorium allows RHA to evict residents for all other lease violations, including criminal and illegal activities on or off RHA properties and for not complying to re-certification requirements to name a few examples. No waivers are in place to assist with receiving income verification, etc. for recertification.
Rental assistance funding through a state-run program called Project Hope will be provided when authorities release the process.
Residents can contact Froncello Bumpass, RHA housing manager, at (336) 583-5626 for questions about Project HOPE or to set up a repayment agreement. If you have other housing questions, please contact Mr. Bumpass.
HCV residents can call Brad with Person Co. Section 8 at (919) 606-2788 for more information about the moratorium for that HUD rent subsidy program.
