Person County Habitat for Humanity (PCHFH) Executive Director Rev. Daniel Collins along with Cynthia Wilson of the agency urged over 10 Roxboro Housing Authority (RHA) residents to apply to become a homeowner/partner during an outdoor housing agency meeting.

Requirements for consideration of becoming a Habitat homeowner include the physical and financial need for housing, and the ability to repay the mortgage, taxes and insurance.

Selected applicants must work with local non-profit Christian Help Center to receive the tools to become a successful homeowner. Participation in this self-sufficiency endeavor counts toward completing a required 300 sweat equity hours. Construction work is a traditional and well-known requirement to get a Habitat home, Collins said.

The application process is currently open and will remain open until two families are selected to participate. Applications may be picked up from the Habitat store at 110 Carver St, Roxboro or online at personcountyhabitat.org. Rev Collins can be reached at director@personcountyhabitat.org.

RHA hosts resident meetings through a conference call every other Tuesday at 3 PM. Staff members share agency updates and answer resident questions. This forum allows the staff to hear directly from residents, and to act swiftly in addressing concerns or receive feedback. Current and future events, maintenance updates, afterschool program activities and several other topics pertaining to public housing residents in Person County are discussed.
